A commissioned portrait is a timeless heirloom. It can catch the fleeting innocence of youth, celebrate the depth of a special relationship or honor one’s lifework. The Process is exciting and enjoyable for both the artist and the Sitter. For Outstation Clients, working with photograph is also possible. The final portrait is a work of art which combine your original vision for the piece with the artist’s unique style and execution.
Each year Juhi accepts portrait commission. These can be in Oil, Charcoal or Soft pastel.
- The Graphite, charcoal or soft Pastel drawing process takes around 4 days per single portrait from start to finish. However, this usually spans a week or so to allow time for feedback.
- The Oil painting process is a much more drawn out and labor-intensive process. It includes 7or 8 layers of paint and a protective varnish. Drying time is needed between each layer and then a longer final drying time to make sure everything is set before varnishing and packing it for postage and delivery. So, I would expect the whole process to take between 4 weeks to 3 months (Depending on the complexity, size and thickness of the paint).
